Mão Esquerda Vintage
Mão Esquerda vintage, is the new location of a well-known Portuguese vintage boutique that offers high quality worldwide clothes. The new project occupies a tiny 19 square meter ground floor of an antiqued and degraded building located in the center of Porto.
Project consists on a newly refurbished space that combines both the raw, traditional vibe of the Porto city with a contemporary minimal aesthetic.
The main challenge within this project was getting adapted to the multiple peculiarities of the small, irregular and slender space from a simple and clean approach. A clean canvas (backdrop) that would enclose and highlight the large and heterogeneous vintage clothes collection.
The result is a layout with a visually strong and masculine aesthetic focused in two main curved elements, an oak gridded floor-to-ceiling wall serving both to partition and storage purposes and a two-level iron hanger that allows the showroom to change its configuration based on the items on display.
It is complemented by the existing marmorite pavement and a refurbished service desk that belonged to the owners. Lighting details add further color add a subtle theatricality to the space.
